Loose Pin Hinge
One of the principal ways of joining scenic elements for sets on a stage is by the use of loose pin hinges. It can be used straight from the bag without any further modifications proving to be a great favourite in UK and American scenery workshops.
The LOOSE PIN HINGE won the ABTT Product of the Year Award in 1984, during our first year in business.
The design features that make The LOOSE PIN HINGE so successful include a robust tapered pin with a sturdy 'knock-in / knock out' head, alignment notches, and offset screw holes to prevent screws splitting the timber.
Our purpose-designed LOOSE PIN HINGE has the following features that have made it so successful:
The 44mm (1 3/4") hinge is constructed from 2mm mild steel.
A large diameter and robust tapered pin that draws the halves together with a sturdy 'knock-in / knock out' head.
The square central hole allows the flaps to be attached with a coach bolt.
The offset screw holes prevent screws splitting the timber.
The vee notches on the sides align with the square central hole to allow the hinge to be folded in half around the edge of a timber frame.
The centre line markings allow the hinge to be accurately positioned over a pencil line.
The male and female halves have a built in tolerance to allow two sections of scenery to be fitted together.
The LOOSE PIN HINGE is finished in black as standard.
